The topic of this Ted Talk is using your hands for mainly all computer systems. The argument was that you don’t need a big system interface or any interface at all, you just can use your hands. A PowerPoint presentation of pictures and videos was shown:
and a video interface with miniature robots as the tools almost like a smart board with a video projector was shown as a visual prop:
It was very effective in showing and explaining that we use our hands for almost everything in life. No questions were asked. Humor was not used but the information presented kept me engaged. The pace of this Ted Talk was mainly fast, especially since the video itself was only six and a half minutes long. The information path started out by talking about computers, then transitioned into talking about interfaces “into the things we live with”, then into using your hands.
This was very engaging to me because I love working with robots and computers. It was especially engaging to me because the video showed that you can feel whats going on and not only see it.

I think the short duration of this presentation helped offset the lack of some of the other techniques like humor or questions. Longer presentations might benefit from incorporating those methods as a means to keep the audience engaged beyond what is likely when just being lectured to.
ReplyDeleteNice job, I liked how you used a lot of pictures to give us an idea of how you say the presentation.
ReplyDeleteWell put. Pictures were also abundant and very helpful. Also like how you tied in why this presentation was so engaging for you personally.
ReplyDeleteImpressive presentation! Those miniature robot tools are really cool. He describes in vivid detail, but no humor. Good pictures to show, but not explain more about it.
